Jola's Birthday Party

This week for Maths. Our task was to solve a few simple word equations. For this task we needed to know our multiplication and division. After the equations were solved we were to chose on of these questions and make an DLO about it. As you can see, in our DLO we've included the question, that we're blogging about. We've also showed the way how we worked out.

These are the other questions we solved.

2. There are 8 children coming to the party. They are all going to the cinema. How many cars will they need to take them there? Each car will hold 4 children and 1 driver.

3. Jola is going to give everyone some chocolate eggs to take home at the end of the party. They fit into egg boxes which hold 6 eggs each. Will 50 eggs be enough for each of the 8 visitors to have a box to take home?

Sky Tower Trip

Today we explored the Sky Tower. It is so fun going at the top of the sky tower. At first we watch a movie about Sky Tower, Volcanoes and other historical places in Auckland. I learn that the sky tower is 328 metre (1,076 ft tall). I also learn that it takes $75 million dollars to build the sky tower. If you want to use the stair to go to the observation deck you will need to spend 29 mins or more walking up the stairs. It take 2 years and 9 months to build the sky tower, it is also the tallest free standing structure in Southern Hemisphere. I would like to thank you Douglas Bates for sponsoring our trip to sky tower, because of him we have the opportunity to explore and learn about the sky tower, and also thank you to Mr Dobson for helping us to explore the sky tower. it is an amazing trip and it is so fun exploring it. We also go to the refuge level, it is the safest place to go in the emergency.

Scale Drawing - Maths Week

Last week was our maths week we've been creating Scale Drawings. I drew Natsu Dragneel from Fairy Tale, I drew him because I love watching anime like Fairy Tale and other anime's. This is my second time creating a scale drawing, I think I have improved a lot since last year. I drew the same character as last year but a different picture. From my perspective it is so fun making scale drawings because it shows the talent that we have. I found it easy to draw the hair and the head because I don't need to put lots of detail to it. I found it hard to make the scarf because I needed to put a lot of detail to it than the others. We uses 1:2 ratio for our scale drawing, we basically enlarged it by 2. The original photo is 1 cm and the enlarged photo is 2 cm square grid. It is quite hard to drew that's why it doesn't seem to look a like the original photo, but I tried my best to make it exactly the same.
